Wanderer the wolf senses something is missing.

Summary

This story gives a look into Wanderer's mind, as he wakes up one night, feeling something is missing. He sniffs the sides of the room, but the smells are still there. He senses The Female is not here, but she is not what's missing. His packmate's Mate is here, and he licks her, trying to reassure himself they are here. But something else is missing.

He whimpers, but no one answers. After gazing at the moon, and listening for a sound, he returns to his packmate's side. The only clue that something is missing is that he keeps expecting someone to answer.
