Been wondering what happening to the bodies of all those whose died of the plague. Burned? Buried? I know in England plague victims were buried in large pits that are still marked on many English maps. I'm sure this was brought up before but I don't remember the answer.
Those are the two most viable choices. Though first they'd have to wait for the quarantine to lift, since disposing of bodies either way outside the walls is the same as any other break of quarantine. Otherwise who would want to burn bodies within town?
I'm sure (don't recall reading the idea) that Kyia would have made storage space available until the quarantine is over. Maybe even cold or otherwise magical preservative storage to slow or stop decomposition.
Lightbringers would burn their faithful on a huge pyre somewhere higher in the mountains where prevailing winds would take it away from settled areas. As Llyn's Legacy mine was being built at the time there is like a large area of cleared woodland near it (for lumber), with plenty of castoff wood for such a pyre.
I'm sure they would be amenable for any Followers who wish to have their deceased similarly given back to the earth in such a way; an honorable cremation. Others would find burial places throughout the valley as the total deaths from the Plague was, relatively, small.
If we're talking about the magical plague that struck during "A Presence of Thieves," only 62 people died before the source was found and destroyed. Many more got sick but recovered immediately when Tallakath's idol was destroyed.
Yup that's what I meant. Thanks.
Another fact to consider is panic and fear. The rumors and gossip will quickly magnify the number of dead into the hundreds. Thomas and the Watch might have a hard time keeping order just due to the fear inspired by wild rumors.
