Ideas for MK 708

So with the Starchild arc out of the picture, it seems MK needs a new overarching plot line for the year 708. 706 was the Winter Assault and 707 held Matthias' great LotR-like adventure against the Marquis and the forces of uber-hell. It seems only fair the 708 have a big story as well, something to continue holding it together rather than merely letting it dissolve into chaos. So far there have been two suggestions.

The first is to have another group of characters embark on another LotR-ish adventure to delve deep into Nasoj's territory and finish him off once and for all. Nasoj has recently become a bit of a joke. His forces are in shambles and he's too far away to be a viable threat to MK anymore. However, as this storyline would occur in his territory, it will be justifiably difficult without making him look like a recurring villain of the month or something. The only issue with this is that it's an all or nothing ploy. Either he defeats the invading party or dies off. The middle ground of him surviving but being defeated is but the first step down the road of cliche repetetive villain and I think Nasoj should have more respect than that. There IS a possibility that this hypothetical invasion somehow plays into his hands and makes him a viable threat again, setting the stage for future conflict. If anyone has ideas for how this would happen, go ahead.

The second idea revolves around Lilith. Previously in the Starchild arc (if I remember right) she was slated to be defeated and replaced by someone else who then goes insane, but with Starchild out of the running, she remains a viable villain. Already in several stories she has been shown to be gathering forces and power, eating away at Nasoj's power base so she wouldn't need to be established. It would be quite easy for her to simply continue her growth and become a threat to MK.

If anyone else has other ideas for the plot of the year (MK time) then please speak up.

There are several plots still going on. I have the plot involving Edmund trying to free the Forest of Ghosts. Also there is Misha and Carolines wedding coming up in June. A VERY big event. Also Hallan has a cool plot line going with Drift.

Well,
Firstly we do not know for a fact that the Starchild Arc is out… we only know that Raven does not intend to pursue it. Granted, without Raven's knowledge of the event, what his plot was, I don't see anyone else being able to pick it up and pull it off as well.

Secondly Nasoj may not be a direct threat to Metamor Keep, but he has not been completely marginalized by the loss of his cannon fodder (re: Lutins). He still controls a large territory and has perhaps the largest 'guild' of mages existent on the world at this time. With trade still going between Nasojassa, Caralore, and Lom Shi'un his power base is reduced but far from a pushover.

In 708 we have many plots dealing with individual characters or small groups of them, but none that will be a major 'event' in Metamor itself (though Hallan's story will certainly be noticed by many, it is not disruptive to the Keep as a whole, nor does it have world-affecting repercussions).
If we plan on putting together an army to take the war to Nasoj's doorstep we will have to take a long, hard look at what would be required. No small party of raiders is going to suffice, Metamor will need an army, and currently it does not have anything approaching that strength within the valley. Thomas' vassal baronies might be able to marshal up a levy but hardly sufficient to take on Nasoj in his own house (look what happened to Nasoj when he attacked Metamor itself… and then reverse the situation). So: Metamor needs money and manpower and lots of it. Money will be covered in time as the mithril mine begins producing (currently I believe the structure for mining and smelting the ore is being built, but in extreme secrecy) but manpower will be an issue for another thread entirely.

We still have to deal with Merai… and until we determine what to do with her I think the Starchild timeline be extended indefinitely.
