Who has seen Zootopia? A cool movie and well done. It even has a decent plot!
I have. It's awesome fun. Bring on the references.
Unfortunately my knowledge on the Godfather franchise is a rusty and full of holes. Beyond the general Mafia references I'm sure I missed a lot.
Ah - Yup. Still a good movie. Did you get the Emmett Otter reference? I dont know if that old TV special was ever shown there? Here is a link that explains: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emmet_Otter's_Jug-Band_Christmas
What was your favorite part?
Lots of little moments. The train rolling into Zootropolis showing all the biomes. Finding out that Idris Elba is in this movie as well. The whole hustle that Nick Wilde pulls, and how Judy manages to snares him into helping her. The Breaking Bad reference. The sudden scale difference when Judy chases her perp into the rodent neighbourhood. The Mr. Big entrance bit. The misdirection with the timber-wolves. And the song at the end finishes it nicely. Heck I'm not even that annoyed about the Sloths in the DMV.
I don't think the Emmet Otter TV special ever aired here or it has been too long ago for me to remember.
I confess I didn't know all of those references, but I'm sure there were others. In the American/Canadian version of the film, one of the newscasters was Peter Moosebridge, which is a reference to longtime CTV news reporter Peter Mansbridge.
I left the theater on a squeak-high. :-)
Dominus tecum
Zootopia is a movie you have to see twice just to see what you missed the first time. For the breaking bad references - those were the ram in the old subway way wearing the protection suit.
References to other movies only works for those who have actually seen those other movies (or at least clips of them). For the Godfather, there have been so many other references made over the decades since it was made that almost everyone, including those of us who never watched it still recognize some of the references.
