Okay peeps, the per-page discussions forum, which had previously been hidden, and accessible only through the discuss links at the bottom of the Wiki pages, is now out and visible. This should allow people to better follow per-page discussions, and to know that they are actually there.

Hey folks,

It has come to my attention that a lot of the stories sent for final inclusion on the archives could benefit from a bit of sprucing up. ShazerFox has kindly volunteered his services as an editor to fix things like spelling, grammar, help with word choice, etc.

So basically what I'm going to do from now on when I get a story is forward it to him for a look-over. If he does any major changes, he will send your revised story back to you for approval before sending me the final version for the archives.

If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions on this, feel free to discuss! And if anyone else is interested in joining ranks as an editor, drop me a line!

We had a Wiki server wide outage over the weekend but as you can see we are back up! And speaking of backup. I did a backup of the whole MK wiki page. The only part of the data on this page not backed up is the discussion forum. I've no idea why backing up the forum isn't allowed.

I will try and remember to do backups here when needed.

Okay!

So I've acquired the coveted keys to the archives, and I'm ready to start adding stories. Feel free to send everything that needs to go up my way. (Or if you've already sent me something to read, let me know if it's okay to go up.) There's a lot that needs to go up at the moment, so I'll probably do several small updates.

There are also a number of technical things that need to be touched up on the site. So far, I'm planning on:

Changing links over from the old to the new mailing list

Getting a link for *this site* up

Redirecting outdated static pages (characters, technical info, etc.) to the new dynamic wiki pages here

Anything else? Let me know!

Also, if you need hosting for images for wiki articles, email them to me and I'll put them up on the archive site for you to link to.

Looking forward to helping out around here! *Gets cracking*

Send stuff to kendo.virmir at gmail dot com

Hey everyone.

*taps microphone*

It pains me to say this, so I'll just be out with it: I've lost
interest in running the MK archive.

That's probably suspected anyway, seeing as I've paid little attention
to this email address for at least half a year now.

I want to do right by the archive and the universe, though, instead of
just disappearing.

So please send any stories, links — basically anything that should be
up there — my way, and I'll do one final ultimate update.

And for the next archivist, all that's really needed is HTML skills.
There's some PHP used for formatting, but it's really quite simple.
I'm willing to do as much as necessary for the hand-off.

It's been a privilege to serve these last few years.

*bows*

—
Thaeus

Hi folks!

I've added a pronunciation guide to the side nav bar. This is not a place to list every weird word that is invented for Metamor Keep, but a set of rules and guidelines for creating a consistent set of phonetic notation. I'm hoping that we'll all be able to use this notation system in our wiki entries to make things more pronounceable for the average reader.

All of the special characters used in the guide are found in the Windows Character Map. I've also included the Unicode numbers to make it easier to look up the symbols. (Remember Unicode is in four digit hexadecimal, so each digit goes from 0 to F.)

I haven't added any exclusively-foreign phonemes, like the French nasal at the end of denouement. If a foreign phoneme is needed to pronounce any words in the MK glossary, post a message about it here and I'll add a symbol for it to the guide.

Let me know if you have any questions. Hopefully this will make things easier for people in the long run, and not just more confusing…

I've been pondering what to add to this site. I was wondering if I should add all the MK stories here. It would mean a lot of work but it would allow us to add all the latest stories.

Another idea is a Works in Progress page for all those stories you want comments on.

Also I need to figure out graphics and pictures - I HAVE to add all those great maps.

Hi gang,

I've added a new item to the top nav bar (which is called "nav:top" if you ever need to edit it) called "Exploring MK". Within here i've created a series of directory pages for the different sorts of topics that will need to be covered in the wiki.

In my MK2K wiki I created a bunch of empty links to articles that needed to be built. I'll do some of that here, but honestly there is no way that I can build the whole outline of all of the topics that need to be discussed in this wiki — the MK world is too fricking huge. :)

I'm entrusting to you guys the responsibility to create the pages for the topics on which you are MK experts. There are guidelines on each of the pages for how they should be named, and I've put up a few examples. Feel free to steal code from pages I've created and copy it elsewhere if you like the format I'm using, or if you're not sure how to do it. Using wiki code does take a bit of practice, but it's not too hard once you get used to it.

All right, that's enough out of me. Let's get to work building this thing! :)
