As I said elsewhere, my MK introduction was through Fox Cutter's A Fox in the Works. Years after, I finally attacked the MK archives this spring and just finished the current batch a couple weeks ago. I've enjoyed most all of them so far. I might even get around to adding a short one or two myself.

I too got hooked into MK by reading Virmir's stories. You just find links everywhere leading him and his stuff. One would almost think it's deliberate… *lifts pinkie*

I'll admit to having the opposite problem as you— that is skipping over universes that are *not* fantasy. But much like you I've been pleasantly surprised more than once. :)

Hey, I'm billy, and I think I've already broken protocol by posting first and introducing myself second but only just found out this was here.

Anyway, I've been working my way through the online TF archives for a few years now and I have to admit I skipped over Metamor because it was fantasy. Then, while browsing I came across a bunch of stories about a certain fox fire mage (fire mage fox?) (fire fox mage?) and once I'd read all those I started reading some other authors. So far I'm halfway through Chris O'Kane's archive and have been firmly bitten by the Metamor bug.

Now I've got two more characters yammering inside my head and an epic story line condensing, so I hope you guys are happy, I spent an afternoon reading about making swords because of this place ;)

Ok Logs, I put up my story so now you have to finish your second one up now! Get cracking!

For those who don't know (which… would be everyone besides nagolinc), I'm the friend who showed nagolinc this place and told him he should write here. He has a second story actually mostly finished, but he said he wouldn't finish it until I finished Sacrifice (my first story). Well now it's done, so you all have my official permission to go threaten to impale him with swimming noodles until he gets it done.

I'm not sure how, but that mailing list formats stuff weird and now it looks like I sent a txt that wasn't word wrapped. Is that just showing up weird on the mailing list page itself or is it screwed up on the sent e-mails too?

Oh well if we're going to count THAT, then yes you are indirectly responsible for me finding this place, but you didn't BRING me here, you just built the bridge I crossed. You may as well give equal credit to my roommate in freshman year who was boring enough I started spending more time on the internet :p Or to the artist who drew the banner that flagged my attention, or to the various authors I recognized from previous works in WoC or TBP and decided to stick around for at first. Besides, even if you WERE responsible, I'd never admit it now would I? ^.^

It's true Vir rakes in a lot of new people though, thankfully I got in through DMFA's Xepher link so he can't hold that over me ^.^

You mean the banner ad I made on the link network I added the MK site to because I though it would help get MK more exposure? ;)

Hey Toast! Always great to have new people, especially when they manage to read the (large chunk of) the archives! I myself have been around this place since August of last year (May actually, but meh) and been having a lot of fun. It's true Vir rakes in a lot of new people though, thankfully I got in through DMFA's Xepher link so he can't hold that over me ^.^ Anyway, looking forward to your story as new entries to MK are always welcome!

My intro to MK was via Fox Cutter's A Fox in the Works (sadly it's removed from his site now) a few years ago but I didn't pursue the regular MK stories at the time. I've only been working away at the archives since this spring (still have around 100 to go).

I've sorta been lurking around since August last year (you can thank Virmir, I was looking at his stuff and followed the link), and I became quite intrigued with this little project you've got going on; mostly agape that something like this has been able to keep going for over ten years. That, and a really engrossing storyline.

I've actually been working on a first story off and on since last August since I became aware of this place, mostly being kept from finishing by long hiatuses and by the fact that it's been getting progressively longer and longer the more I get into it. Anywhere else I'd call the thing a tome, but this place has Charles, so I will refrain. I've been putting off announcing myself until the thing is nearly completed, so hopefully it should be done in a week or so.

Sooooo, that's the introduction. Thing.
