Right, autumn/winter 707 sounds like the right time then and I'll probably just make up a sergeant. Thanks!

Oh, and I'm reading as fast as I can :D

The present time frame is a bit wide. Matt is doing stories set in January 708 but quite a few are doing stories set as far back as September 707. You can do a story set whenever you want. It just needs to fit in with the already written stuff. So I agree with Matt in that you best read more of the archive.

The ranking and such in the MK military is complex. Look here: http://mkworld.wikidot.com/military:organization-and-ranking
For a sergents rank it would be on the soldiers sleeve and consist of 1, 2 or 3 swords depending on their exact rank.

There are several pages dedicated just to the MK military. http://mkworld.wikidot.com/org:military
Hope this helps.

It depends on whose plot you are concerned about. My current stories are taking place in January - February of 708, which puts it over a year after Winter Assault. Of course, a LOT has happened in my plot arc since then. Others are still operating in Fall of 707. It really depends on what you want to do and what you want to know.

It's a good idea to read more of the archives as there is a lot of good stuff there.

As for the insignia, I recall some sort of ranks being defined a while back, but I never paid attention to it myself.

I have a Sergeant Dallar. He's a ram morph, but his usual posting is in the dungeons where he keeps a watch on the prisoners, provides some company for Roscoe, or smokes his pipe. Not sure if he's who you're looking for.

Dominus tecum

Two questions, well, two and a half.

One, where's the plot up to time wise? I'm trying to figure out where The Charlatan and any works leading off that might fit but I'm only up to the Winter Assault in the archives so I know it's post that, but are any other dates I should avoid preceding?

Two, what is the insignia for a sergeant in Metamor's standing army. There's lots of detail on everyone else, but what about the rank and file? And in that vein is there a sergeant going free, I could use one to train one of my characters.

Ok. I think there are pyramids left over from the kkarrt but none in Silvassa with the exception of one long ago pulled down and now completely gone. Others do exist but only small ones long overgrown or fogotten. Pyramids came in many sizes. Of course there can STILL be plenty of cool, egyptian type tombs scattered about with all sorts of nasty things in them waiting for someone to try and sneak in.

Yes, there are markers along the roads approaching Metamor.

In simple: A pole with a cross-arm under which is an inverted black triangle (a general multi-cultural sign for 'bad juju here'). Each curse marker is topped by a mage-lit lamp so it's easy to see even at night.

There are probably warnings in the last town outside of the curse, but I'm not sure if there are any signs up yet. There probably would be some sort of marker to show the limits of the curse, but any pictographs or symbols on it would have to be explained by those who are familiar with them. The concept is just a little difficult to convey in simple pictures. At least to my mind.

Dominus tecum

Uh, I already wrote descriptions of Silvassa in LToY, and they certainly didn't have pyramids there! If there are any there, they'd be very small. It's possible that if there are any pyramids in this area, the people living there now considered them cursed and keep their distance from them.

Dominus tecum

For new visitors to the Metamor valley that haven't heard (correctly) about the curse, are any of the roads into the valley marked with warning signs stating that to stay "past this point" more than 10-14 days is to invite and accept being cursed to one of the three forms?

Sure, many people outside of Metamor may be illiterate, but perhaps some pictorial could accompany any text warning.

Once someone determines (I assume years down the line) that the curse border is expanding, such signs should be moved periodically.

OK! first off - How do you pronounce Kkarrt? K-Kart.

Also I do have a location for Kkarrt being roughly in the area where the border between the Sathmore Empire and the Pyralian Kingdoms. There is a river that runs from the Sathmore mountain range to the ocean. The one major city on that map is Silvassa. That river is the MK version of the Nile. the Kkarrt empire spread out on both sides of the river for a good distance. There are bound to be at few pyramids along the river. Especially at Silvassa which was once the capital of Kkarrt.
See also: http://mkworld.wikidot.com/org:kkarrt-empire

Also keep in mind that after so many centuries, the climate and flora (and fauna but that's beside the point) may have changed drastically. While in varying possible states of ruin or preservation, they might be buried and resemble hills, though maybe too regularly shaped for a natural hill.
