A neriad (NĀR-ē-əd) is a type of celestial. Descendants of Wvelkim and Artela, the nereids are sea-nymphs that associate themselves with features of the undersea world — coral reefs, underwater caves, kelp forests and deep-sea vents. They reproduce by mating with Maeril, and gain power in ways similar to those of nymphs.
